THE SAGITTARIUS CHILD

If your child is born between 23^rd Nov and 21^st Dec.  he/she is a Sagittarian. Bold, fearless, determined, combative, decisive. Will hate secrets and dishonesty of any kind (but not above tweaking facts themselves!). They are outgoing, social, popular, quick-witted and curious.

Adventurous, sporting, optimistic, loves debates, taking risks, is courageous and accident-prone. They rarely sit still. They are always involved, always doing something, always asking questions.

The Scorpio Child

Dear Isheeria's Healing Circles Readers,

If your child is born between 23^rd Oct and 22^nd Nov he/she is a Scorpio. Complex, secretive, moody, volatile, the Scorpio child is emotional and feels very deeply, but tend to keep their feelings hidden.

This Mars child is the most intense and passionate sign of the zodiac and has tremendous endurance and resilience. They don’t accept “no” easily, and see things in “black and white” which makes life pretty difficult for them. They are also the most misunderstood. They are drawn to what is forbidden—be it electrical sockets, drugs etc.

 Even as a child your Scorpio child will want their own way—with flattery and by manipulation (in which they are masters!!) they will somehow always manage to get what they want.

They are wise beyond their years and once motivated they will forge ahead and not rest till they have achieved their goal. Compromise is not one of their virtues. They love a challenge, and are not hesitant to pick a fight.

They tend to be very possessive hence, if you have a new addition to the family please remember that they will feel insecure and threatened, and will either withdraw deep into a shell, or throw tantrums and behave unruly. You will need to foster their relationships especially with siblings. Teach them to be caring from the beginning. Their sense of insecurity is very deep and leads them to be envious, and if not checked in them early can lead to a spiteful and vindictive nature.  

You will need to establish the “rules”—the standard of behavior and the habits that they inculcate as children will remain with them throughout life. If you are consistent in your dealings with them they will feel secure around you.

They need constant and firm discipline, and lots of affection and support. Keep them active physically and mentally.  They have strong will-power, are determined, and the only way to make them see reason is with logic. Don’t push them too hard. Teach them self- control.

Happy Dhanteras!

Welcome to the FESTIVE SEASON of 2015!  The season of lights, prayers, prosperity and celebrations!

While we all enjoy the commercial elements of the festivals, somewhere, with our busy schedules, we seem to have forgotten the actual meaning of the festival, and follow only the minimalistic rituals that have been passed down to us, and which have suited us.

Most of us today associate Dhanteras with buying something of metal signifying the bringing home of prosperity. In actuality this is only a small part of it.  Here’s some more about this festival -

Dhanteras

Dhanteras is the first day of the Diwali celebrations. It is celebrated on triyodashi (ie. on the 13th tithi ) of Krishan Paksha in the month of Kartik. It is widely celebrated in North and West India. This year Dhanteras is on 9th November.

Dhanteras marks the end of the Diwali shopping, and the beginning of the Diwali celebrations. Diwali Puja starts on Dhanteras, continues through Chhoti Diwali, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dhooj.  Traditionally it starts with decorating the house with rangoli, and inviting the Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi into the house. Tiny footsteps in vermillion are made indicative of Her coming into the house. Her picture or idol is cleaned and decorated. A must buy on this day is something in metal (preferably a utensil) to be blessed by Her on this auspicious day.  Some families perform Lakshmi Puja on this day, but most perform it on Diwali night. Homes and offices are decorated and rangoli are made to welcome the Goddess.

Dhanvantari Puja is held on this day for the blessings of the Divine Physician, Dhanvantri, for the health of all the family members. He is believed to eradicate all diseases.

 Cows are worshipped on this day, and food is given to them as they are significations of prosperity.

Traditionally, the main water containers are scrubbed clean, the clay water pot is changed on this day, and decorated with a tika and flowers.

Another lost tradition is of the Yamadeepan.  Yamadeepdaan is a must in each house as it is believed to ward off untimely death in the family. Lamps dedicated to Yamraj, the God of Death, are left burning all night long.

 Some families also light a lamp for their ancestors on Dhanteras and float it down a river. In South India, Yama Tarpanam is performed on Narak Chaturdasi (chhoti Diwali), by offering Tarpan to the dead relatives.

Earthen diyas are lit at the entrance to banish evil spirits.

Dhanteras is the auspicious day for prayers and celebrations for the wealth and prosperity in all aspects of life for all members of the family.

Scorpios born in November

If you are born between 1st Nov. — 22nd Nov. you are a Scorpio, and ruled by Mars and Jupiter- thus making you a bundle of contradictions, and very difficult to fathom. These two diverse influences pull you in opposing directions making your life turbulent and difficult. It is a very rare Scorpion who can walk the middle path and find contentment.

A Libran child has an instinctive sense of fashion, grooming, and etiquette; and an interest in the Arts.    From an early age they can perceive that there are two sides to every story, and to every situation. The more they understand this the more confused they become leading to an inability to make a decision. Don’t rush them to decide/ to make up their minds. They hate making decisions, and do not respond well to pressure.

In life the Libran child will have it pretty easy as they will be able to mollify and get their own way because of their irresistible charm and tact. They tend to throw tantrums from an early age if they can’t easily get what they want. Also, a tendency to procrastinate as they have great difficulty in making up their minds and coming to a decision. The answer is to reason with them, and persuade them, and not give them choices.

   Libran children need help to keep their feet on the ground. Being a sociable child they like being surrounded by people, and tend to feel stifled if left too much alone.
